RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks Women’s Association will host a ‘Football 101’ workshop on Saturday, October 17 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton.

The workshop is designed as an interactive event to teach fans the technical side of the game, including the basic rules and fundamentals. The workshop will feature classroom instruction, position break-out sessions and a mock game with special appearances by Seahawks players and alumni.

“The Football 101 workshop will give fans the opportunity to sharpen their football IQ, but also learn about the myriad set of complex demands, stressors, and challenges associated with being diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Kaye Cole PhD, spouse of Seahawks DT Colin Cole and event co-chair.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Puget Sound affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Sisterhood. The event is part of a broader campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer during the month of October.

The registration fee is $65 and includes: Seahawks ‘Football 101” handbook, autograph session with current Seahawks players, football snacks and beverages, and a special Football 101 gift bag. Attendees must be 16-years-old. Registration is limited to 125 participants.

“We are thrilled with support of the NFL, especially the coaches and players, who take advantage of this opportunity to help educate fans about early detection,” said Linda Ruskell, spouse of Seahawks General Manager Tim Ruskell and event co-chair.

The Seahawks Women’s Association is comprised of spouses and significant others of the Seahawks players, coaches and staff with a mission to participate in events that raise awareness for women and children in the community.
