Renton, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have hired Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator, the team announced this afternoon. Quinn replaces Gus Bradley who was named head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier today.
"Gus did a great job for us the last three years and we are excited for him, his family and their opportunity," said Head Coach Pete Carroll. "He is a fantastic coach and we wish him all the best in Jacksonville."
Quinn returns to Seattle where he was assistant head coach/defensive line coach in 2009 under Jim Mora and was one of three holdovers in 2010 on Carroll's staff when he coached the defensive line. He was instrumental in the position switch of 
"Dan Quinn is an excellent teacher who is familiar with our system and allows us to maintain continuity," added Carroll. "Dan did a great job for us in 2010 and I'm pleased to get him back."
Quinn left Seattle to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida where his defenses ranked in the top-10 in the country in 2011 and 2012.
He began his NFL coaching career in San Francisco as its defensive quality control coach in 2001 before moving to coach the 49ers defensive line from 2003-04. He also coached the defensive lines for the Miami Dolphins (2005-06) and the N.Y. Jets (2007-08).
