One night after strutting their stuff on the red carpet at the 2014 ESPYS, the Seahawks found themselves walking the orange carpet for Nickelodeon's inaugural Kids' Choice Sports Awards at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, Calif.
Quarterback Russell Wilson, who captained the club to its first Super Bowl with a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos this past February, won "Best Newcomer," while 12s earned the "Smells Like Team Spirit" title for best fans in sports.
The Seahawks' third-year signal caller beat out Tulsa Shock hoopster Skylar Diggins, Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout, and professional tennis player Sloane Stephens for the award.
Seahawks fans emerged victorious over supporters of the Detroit Red Wings, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Running back Marshawn Lynch was nominated for "Clutch Player of the Year," but the award ended up in the hands of New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony. That didn't stop the Seahawks Beast Mode back from having a little fun, though. Lynch was one of the show's celebrity presenters and his slime-filled entrance is definitely worth a look.
And in what was an early NFC West showdown, free safety Earl Thomas matched up against Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in the "Verizon Power Dunk" competition. Thomas and Fitzgerald competed to see who could be the first to hit a bulls-eye target that would send the other plumeting into a tank filled to the brim in Nickelodeon's signature slime. The Arizona wideout got the best of the Seattle safety this time around.
