But with the veteran snapper turning 40 next week, and Pete Carroll stepping in as head coach, the club announced the signings of two other options Friday: Matt Overton and Pat McDonald, who were given tryouts on Monday.
Overton, 24, went to Western Washington University and was with the Seahawks during training camp in 2007. He played for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League last season and also spent two seasons with the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League.
McDonald, 27, is a native of Toronto and snapped in the Canadian Football League with Winnipeg (2009) and Calgary (2007-08). He also had NFL tryouts with the Carolina Panthers (2009) and New Orleans Saints (2007).
The Seahawks have had snapper issues since J.P. Darche signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency after the 2006 season.
In 2007, the Seahawks used Derek Rackley and Boone Stutz with less-than-stellar results, before coaxing Robinson out of retirement for the final three games. In 2008, they spent a sixth-round draft choice on Tyler Schmitt, only to discover he had a degenerative back problem. Enter Robinson, again.
Last season, after Bryan Pittman was injured just before training camp opened, 
With Overton and McDonald on hand, Robinson should be able to remain retired this season.
