Hmm, where have we seen this matchup before?

Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman will square off against San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the semifinal round of the fan-voting competition to determine whose face will don the cover of Madden NFL 15.

Sherman outperformed New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham in Round 2, collecting 65 percent of the fan vote. That result came one round after Sherman earned 73 percent of the vote to open bracket play, besting Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in the process.

It's safe to say the Seahawks and 12s alike came away satisfied the last time Sherman and Kaepernick matched up. All Sherman did was record what the readers of Seahawks.com would unanimously vote as the most-significant play in franchise history - his "Immaculate Deflection" of a Kaepernick pass intended for Niners wide receiver Michael Crabtree that fell into the hands of eventual Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith during the closing minutes of this past January's NFC Championship.

Sherman now takes his impressive resume against the Niners signal caller - which also includes two picks and five passes defensed in three regular season games - into the semifinal round of the Madden cover vote. Facing off on the other side of the bracket are Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

You can cast a vote daily through Friday, May 30, when the competition's finalists will be announced.
