Pete Carroll: Wide receiver Percy Harvin still day-to-day

News and notes from head coach Pete Carroll's Week 8 Thursday press conference at Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

Head coach Pete Carroll addressed the media this afternoon ahead of the team's 1:45 p.m. PT "Competition Wednesday" practice - on a Thursday - ahead of the club's Week 8 contest with the St. Louis Rams.

"Our guys feel pretty strong," Carroll said of the team's extended break they received after last Thursday night's win against the Cardinals in Arizona. "We've come out of it in pretty good shape, so hopefully we'll be able to take advantage."

Ten days separate the team's Week 7 game with the Cardinals and its Week 8 game with the Rams - set for a 5:40 p.m. PT kick on ESPN's Monday Night Football. The matchup could fall on the very same night as Game 5 of the World Series, when the St. Louis Cardinals would host the Boston Red Sox at Busch Stadium - a ballpark that lies just down the street from the Rams' Edward Jones Dome.

"It's fun to be playing a spotlighted game," Carroll said, whose team is 7-1 in prime time games since 2010. "The guys are looking forward to it."

Below are some more news and notes from Carroll's Wednesday presser:

    • Carroll emphasized wide receiver Percy Harvin is still day-to-day, saying the club will know more on his availability for this week on Monday. "Nothing's realistic right now but getting to the next day," Carroll said. "It would be great to see him play this weekend, but that's not part of what we're counting on."

    • Wide receiver Golden Tate made it through Thursday's walk-through OK after leaving Tuesday's "Bonus Day" practice with a sore shoulder. "It looks like he's going to be OK," said Carroll.

    • Linebacker Bobby Wagner also made it through Thursday's walk-through unscathed. Carroll said the second-year linebacker is "way ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.

    • Right tackle Breno Giacomini has finally started to make a turn in his recovery from the knee surgery he underwent back on September 30. Carroll said a timetable for Giacomini's return is still up in the air.

Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth and Digital Media Host Tony Ventrella will be back with more following today's practice, when offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will be available to the media.
