Head coach Pete Carroll addressed the media this afternoon ahead of the team's 1:45 p.m. PT "Competition Wednesday" practice - on a Tuesday - prior to the club's divisional-round playoff with the New Orleans Saints at CenturyLink Field.
After participating in the team's bonus practices on Thursday and Friday of last week, Carroll said wide receiver
If Harvin is able to go, Carroll said they would mix him into the wide receiver rotation and "play as the other guys play." Carroll was non-committal on whether or not Harvin would handle kick returns should he get back on the field this weekend, but he did hint at what he expects to see from the 25-year-old wideout when he's available.
"If he's playing, in my mind he's playing," Carroll said.
Carroll also said tight end
Below are a few more bits of news and notes from Carroll's Tuesday presser:
K.J. Wright(foot) is expected to do some running on Thursday of this week, but has already been ruled out of this weekend's matchup. "Hopefully we can follow through next week if we get the chance," said Carroll
- Wright was the primary defender of Saints Pro Bowl/All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham in the Week 13 meeting between the two clubs, blanketing Graham in coverage and recording a pass defensed. Asked who will cover the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Graham this time around, Carroll replied, "You'll have to wait and see."
- On cornerback
Walter Thurmond, who returned to action from an NFL-imposed four-game suspension in Week 17 against the Rams, Carroll said, "He had limited opportunities, but after a month off and with our other guys playing so well we didn't have to force the issue there. He continues to compete for a spot right now."
- "It's the absolute, most crucial relationship of our program." Carroll, on his rapport with Seahawks general manager John Schneider
- "It doesn't guarantee anything, but it's certainly more fun for us to play here than go on the road." Carroll, on playing in front of the 12s at CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks are 15-1 the past two seasons.
Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth and Digital Media Host Tony Ventrella will be back with more following today's practice, when offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will be available to the media.
