Carroll said rookie defensive tackle
"We're real excited about him," Carroll said of Hill. "Early on we had him scheduled to be one of the four rushers to go with
"He seems to be very fit, as healthy as can be," Carroll said. "We've got to see what he's doing and what he looks like."
Below are some more news and notes from Carroll's Wednesday presser:
- Carroll reiterated that defensive end Michael Bennett will practice Wednesday. Bennett left last Sunday's game on a stretcher and was taken to a nearby Houston hospital for precautionary measures with what turned out to be a lower back strain.
- Carroll noted defensive tackle
Clinton McDonaldhas performed better recently than at any time in the past couple of years, "He's reminded us of why he should be here on a day to day basis." McDonald shares the team lead in sacks (2.5) with Bennett.
- Strong safety
Jeron Johnsonwill return to practice today. Johnson has been on the mend since leaving the team's Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers with a hamstring injury.
- Rookie running back
Spencer Wareis "still hobbling around," Carroll said. Ware sprained his ankle in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers and has not participated in practice since.
- Carroll offered some praise for Colts quarterback Andrew Luck: "It was not a difficult pick to take him first a year ago and he's lived up to every bit of it and more," he said. "He looks like a pocket passer, but he's way more than that."
Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth and Digital Media Host Tony Ventrella will be back with more following today's practice, when offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will be available to the media.
