Percy Harvin to make Seahawks debut

Posted Nov 17, 2013

The wait is finally over – for Percy Harvin, the Seahawks and their fans. The multi-talented threat will play in Sunday’s game against the Vikings, the team that traded Harvin to the Seahawks in March.

Coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that Percy Harvin’s status for Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings would be a game-day decision. It was, and it has been made: Harvin is not among the seven inactive players just listed by the team for its game at CenturyLink Field.

It will be Harvin’s first appearance for the Seahawks, who acquired him in a March trade with the Vikings. It will be Harvin’s first game since the Vikings played the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field last November 4. Harvin got a season-ending ankle injury in that game, which the Seahawks won 30-20. He then had hip surgery Aug. 1, which prevented the receiver/runner/returner from playing during the preseason and in the team’s first 10 games.

The significance of Sunday’s opponent is not lost on Harvin, but he also stressed it wasn’t the driving force in his return for this particular game.

“Not at all,” he said Friday when asked about any added incentive to return against the Vikings. “It’s good to play those guys and be able to see those guys. I’ve still got a lot of friendships over there. … But this is solely about the Seattle Seahawks. Me being out there and being able to play again, and get ready for this playoff run. It has nothing to do with the Minnesota Vikings.”
