No big-play Percy Harvin for big matchup against Saints

Posted Dec 2, 2013

After making his Seahawks’ debut in the pre-bye week game against the Vikings, Percy Harvin is inactive for the “Monday Night Football” against the Saints at CenturyLink Field.

Soreness in his surgically repaired hip will prevent Percy Harvin from playing for the Seahawks in their “Monday Night Football” game against the New Orleans Saints at CenturyLink Field, as the receiver/returner/runner is among the players just named inactive.

Harvin, who had hip surgery August 1, returned a kickoff 58 yards and also tipped a pass with one hand that he controlled while falling to the turf for a 17-yard reception in the Seahawks’ pre-bye week victory over the Minnesota Vikings – the team that traded him to Seattle in March. But soreness in his hip prevented Harvin from practicing this week.

“He’s just sore, so we don’t want to push it beyond that right now. It’s not worth it,” Carroll said after Saturday’s practice. “We have to go day-to-day really. That’s the facts. I’ve told you, that’s the only way that we can go right now.

“It’s just him getting back and making sure he’s balanced in that area so he can handle the workload.”

Inactive for the Seahawks:

CB Brandon Browner

OT Michael Bowie

RB Christine Michael

OL Caylin Hauptmann

DT Jordan Hill

DE Benson Mayowa

With Browner out for the second consecutive game and backup Walter Thurmond beginning a league-imposed four-game suspension this week, Byron Maxwell will make his first NFL start at right cornerback and Jeremy Lane will be the nickel back.

Inactive for the Saints:

QB Ryan Griffin

RB Khiry Robinson

CB Trevin Wade

OLB Keyunta Dawson

OT Terron Armstead

WR Nick Toon

DE Glenn Foster
