Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Monday, June 9 - about your Seattle Seahawks:
Seahawks Start Final Week Of OTAs
The Seahawks' final week of Organized Team Activities is underway this afternoon at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Today's session is open to the media and we'll provide plenty of post-practice written, video, and photo coverage here on Seahawks.com. The team will hold closed practices on Tuesday and Wednesday before wrapping up their voluntary offseason workouts with another session open to the media on Thursday, June 12.
Richard Sherman To Grace Cover Of Madden NFL 15
Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman beat out Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the fan-voting competition to determine who would appear on the cover of Madden NFL 15. Sherman said his latest offseason accolade is a tribute to the entire "Legion of Boom."
"I've been pinching myself every day and it seems like it's still real life," Sherman told ESPN shortly after learning he would appear on the game's cover. "It's been a great experience to do it with my teammates, the Legion of Boom,
Percy Harvin - Fantasy Football Comeback Player Of The Year?
Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin earns a mention from NFL.com's fantasy crew as a top candidate for Comeback Player of the Year. On Harvin, who missed a majority of last season with a hip injury, NFL.com writer Alex Gelhar says, "I like the potential of Percy Harvin to take home the fantasy Comeback Player of the Year award. Of course, this is assuming he stays healthy for all or most of the season. After all, Harvin has only played in all 16 games once in his five year career. Yet with the departure of Golden Tate, those touches are going need to be spread around, and Harvin is the most likely target. He flashed his game-breaking potential once again in the Super Bowl, and if theSeahawks have any designs of repeating as champions, Harvin will need to be a big part of the equation on offense. Before injuries derailed his 2012 season, Harvin was one of the top scorers at his position. It's not too hard to imagine his name appearing at the top of the list once again in 2014."
Richard Sherman & Pete Carroll Make NFL World Cup Team
Ahead of the 2014 World Cup, Jim Reineking of NFL.com has put together a World Cup team made up entirely of NFL players. The Seahawks' All-Pro corner Richard Sherman makes the team as a defender and Pete Carroll's championship pedigree makes him Reineking's choice to coach the 11-man squad.
