Max Unger, Breno Giacomini inactive against Texans

The Seahawks won’t have three-fifths of their starting offensive line in Sunday’s game against the Texans in Houston as center Max Unger and right tackle Breno Giacomini have been named inactive.

HOUSTON – All-Pro center Max Unger and right tackle Breno Giacomini were listed as doubtful on Friday for Sunday’s game against the Texans at Reliant Stadium, but there’s no longer any doubt about their status as they are among the players just named inactive by the Seahawks.

Unger injured a triceps and Giacomini a knee in last week’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Seahawks already were without Pro Bowl left tackle Russell Okung, who has been placed on injured reserve with the designation to return because of a toe injury.

So the starting line against the Texans will be comprised of – from left tackle to right – Paul McQuistan, James Carpenter, Lemuel Jeanpierre, J.R. Sweezy and rookie Michael Bowie.

“Our guys are ready to play ball if they’re called on to do so,” coach Pete Carroll said after Friday’s practice. “It won’t be the story about the guys who aren’t playing, it will be about those guys stepping up and doing their thing.”

Jeanpierre and Bowie did get all the reps in practice this week, while McQuistan started for Okung last week.
