Look who's coming to training camp: Practice 12

Posted Aug 12, 2014

A closer look at three of the 12th Man fans among the final sold-out crowd of 2,500-plus who attended the 12th practice open to the public on Tuesday at the Seahawks’ Training Camp presented by Bing.

The 12th and final practice open to the public at the Seahawks’ Training Camp presented Bing attracted another sold-out crowd of 2,500-plus 12th Man fans who packed the berm at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on a cloudy Tuesday morning.

Among them were a fan and his wife who made the trip over the mountains from Sunnyside, another who likes Doug Baldwin and a third who was sporting a Mutant Ninja Turtle backpack – just like the one middle linebacker and leading tackler Bobby Wagner wears.

“I beat Bobby Wagner at Madden for two years at EMP Theatre,” Devin Galloway said. “So he may remember me.”

So the backpack is an ode to Wagner? “I’ve been a Turtle fan my whole entire life, probably as long as the Seahawks,” he said. “So it started before Bobby Wagner.”

Orlando Garcia

From: Sunnyside

Accompanied by: his wife, Crystal

Fan since: “My whole life. Both of us.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Steve Largent. “He was just a classy guy,” he said of the Hall of Fame wide receiver. “Great receiver. Classy guy. Had his head on straight. Great person, not to mention one of the best receivers of all-time.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Russell Wilson. “He’s a stud,” he said of the team’s third-year QB. “Baseball player. Football player. Great athlete. Great person. I have an aunt who works at Children’s Hospital and she says he goes there all the time to visit a lot of the kids. He’s just a great guy.”

Favorite moment in franchise history, other than winning the Super Bowl in February: “The Tip,” he said of Richard Sherman’s “Immaculate Deflection” in the end zone to ice the NFC Championship game against the 49ers in January. “We had a big house party. It was crazy. People were crying. We lost our voice. It was just awesome.”

Moment most looking forward to this season: “Playoffs. Winning the division title and getting into the playoffs.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Walter Jones. “He’s the greatest tackle of all-time,” he said of the Hall of Fame left tackle. “And he was ours, his whole career.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Earl Thomas. “Greatest safety of all-time, I’m calling it now,” said Galloway, who was wearing a Thomas No. 29 jersey.

Favorite moment in franchise history, other than winning the Super Bowl in February: “The Tip. I was at my friend’s house. The ball’s in the air and I was thinking Atlanta game! Atlanta game!” he said of the Seahawks’ loss in the closing seconds to the Falcons in a 2012 divisional playoff game in Atlanta. “Then the pick (by Malcolm Smith). It was great.”
