The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks hosting the Green Bay Packers, whose 52 victories on kickoff weekend rank second only the Chicago Bears (54) in NFL history. And, in a nationally televised game from CenturyLink Field, which becomes a noise factory when the 12s are in full roar.
That's the scene at CenturyLink Field on this first Thursday afternoon/evening in September.
"It's a great matchup and we're really excited we are playing at home for this first game to celebrate with the 12s," coach Pete Carroll said after Wednesday's walkthrough at Virginia Mason Athletic Center. "It's a unique opportunity, really, to start the season. So we are kind of happy about it and we'll try to do real well."
