Look who’s coming to the Seahawks’ preseason home opener

A look at three of the 67,000-plus fans who came to the Seahawks’ preseason home opener against the San Diego Chargers at CenturyLink Field on Friday night.


The 12s were out in force at CenturyLink Field on Friday, as the Seahawks were preparing to play the San Diego Chargers in their preseason home opener.

The early arrivals included two fans who are big fans of quarterback Russell Wilson and another who is attending her first Seahawks game.


Mike Roderick

Age: 53

From: Moses Lake

Accompanied by: his daughter, Hailey

Fan since: “Since ’80.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Russell Wilson. “He’s a good quarterback – a good young quarterback who’s got a good future,” said Roderick, who was wearing a camouflage No. 3 Wilson jersey.

Favorite current Seahawk: Russell Wilson.

Favorite moment during Super Bowl XLVIII: “From beginning to end.”

Favorite moment in franchise history, other than winning the Super Bowl in February: “The Lynch run,” he said of Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Quake” – an electrifying 67-yard TD run to ice the 2010 wild-card playoff victory over the Saints. “I was in Moses Lake watching on TV, and going nuts just like everybody else was.”

Moment most looking forward to this season: “Beating whoever in the Super Bowl.”


Taylor Bostwick

Age: 19

From: Cashmere

Accompanied by: her boyfriend, Jeremy Hendrickson; and his mother, Hallie

Fan since: “Forever.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: “I don’t know. I couldn’t tell you.”

Favorite current Seahawk: Kam Chancellor, a choice made with more than just a subtle hint from Hallie, who was wearing a Chancellor No. 31 jersey. “It’s Chancellor, because she wants a ride home,” Hallie said.

Favorite moment during Super Bowl XLVIII: “She didn’t even watch the Super Bowl,” Jeremy said. Added Hallie, “When Paul Allen got up on the stage and held up the Lombardi (Trophy).”

Favorite moment in franchise history, other than winning the Super Bowl in February: The NFC Championship game. “Because of The Tip,” she said of Richard Sherman’s “Immaculate Deflection” in the end zone that sealed the win over the 49ers.

Moment most looking forward to this season: “This game. It’s my first ever game I’ve been to.”


Tyson Durst

Age: 16

From: Seattle

Accompanied by: his friend, Josh Long

Fan since: “All my life.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Russell Wilson. “I just like his story,” said Durst, who was wearing a No. 3 Wilson jersey.

Favorite current Seahawk: Russell Wilson

Favorite moment during Super Bowl XLVIII: “When we got the safety at the very beginning,” he said of the first play of the game.

Favorite moment in franchise history, other than winning the Super Bowl in February: “The Tip at the end of the NFC Championship game,” he said Sherman’s “Immaculate Deflection.”

Moment most looking forward to this season: “The 49ers game here.”
