Look who’s coming to the NFC Championship game between the Seahawks and 49ers

Posted Jan 19, 2014

A look at some of the 68,000-plus 12th Man fans who are attending Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Seahawks and 49ers at CenturyLink Field, including a foursome who flew in from El Paso, a couple who met in Iraq and the one-and-only Mama Blue.

Brian Webb

Age: 36

From: El Paso, Texas. “We came in just for this. We flew in yesterday. We bought the tickets even before they beat the Saints. We planned it a long time back. We said, ‘We’re going to the NFC Championship game, and we’ll be there.”

Fan since: “Forever.”

Accompanied by: his brother, Sam, and his wife, Bonnie; and friend Paul Richard

Favorite current Seahawk: “It’s hard to pick. But I’m going to go Earl Thomas. It’s just his effort. He’s fiery this year. I’m noticing it a lot more than before.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Shaun Alexander. “He took us to a Super Bowl. He took us to our only Super Bowl, so far.”

Favorite moment this season: “(Richard) Sherman’s shoeless pick (and TD return to tie the Week 4 game against the Texans).”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “The Beast Quake. Marshawn Lynch. That run (for a 67-yard TD in the 2010 wild-card playoff game against the Saints). That was amazing.”

Brittney Linville

Age: 29

From: Marysville

Fan since: “It was 2003, when my husband and I first met. We were stationed in Iraq. He turned me into a Seahawks fan. It’s all his fault.”

Accompanied by: her husband, Matthew

Favorite current Seahawk: Richard Sherman, but also Clint Gresham. “It’s Richard Sherman, but our long snapper, Clint Gresham, is a close second. He makes some pretty funny internet videos. He’s a pretty funny guy. I know a lot of people don’t even know who he is, but he’s a pretty funny guy.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: Matt Hasselbeck. “He was a pretty cool guy. And he was a good-looking guy, but don't tell him (her husband) that.”

Favorite moment this season: “My daughter (Natalie, 7) was a Tee-Hawk winner for one of the games. It was right after I gave birth to our second daughter. So I was at home watching the game. But then she was here her dad and got to be the Tee-Hawk.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “Beast Quake I (against the Saints in the 2010 wild-card playoff game). That was our first season as season-ticket holders.”

Mama Blue (a.k.a. Patti Hammond)

Age: 83 (last Thursday). “When you get this old, you’re happy to be anywhere.”

From: Originally, Portland. “I was cheerleader at Roosevelt High School.” For the past 61 years, Shoreline

Fan since: “ ’76. We’ve had season tickets since ’76.”

Accompanied by: her granddaughters, Chante Cairus and Desirae McCaulley. “And put in parenthesis Patricia, because (Desirae) is named after me.”

Favorite current Seahawk: “All of them. But I just did a commercial with Russell (Wilson) last week that’s coming out this week with Alaska Airlines. Watch for it. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and I loved it. I told me he gave me the vapors. He doesn’t have a clue what that means. I told him to check with grandma.”

Favorite all-time Seahawk: “You know what? I can’t pick. I really can’t. I just can’t. I love them all. I have so many good memories from being president of the booster club and have all of them around. But I will tell you, I have two pair of Walter Jones’ shoes. I have a pair that’s fresh out of the box that he didn’t want and a pair he wore on the field. I’m going to make planters out of them. He’s my teddy bear and I love him. But (Dave) Krieg and (Steve) Largent, all those boys. I love it when they come around and say, ‘Are you still here?’"

Favorite moment this season: “This season? Right now, baby. You don’t get this many chances for something like this.”

Favorite moment in franchise history: “I have a couple. The first one is when I got inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in ’99. They picked one fan from every team. And the second has to be September ’07 against the Bucs when I raised the 12th Man flag, and that was the last game my husband of 60 years got to go to.”
