Nick Reed
(6-1, 248). Reed, 22, was a seventh-round draft choice last year who earned a spot of the 53-man roster after collecting a league-high 4½ sacks in the preseason. A relentless pass rusher, he had one sack and three QB hurries as a situational player during the regular season. Reed also was fifth on the team with seven special teams tackles.
Chris Clemons (6-3, 254). The 28-year-old Clemons was obtained in a mid-March trade that sent defensive end Darryl Tapp to the Philadelphia Eagles. Clemons has 17 sacks in his first six NFL seasons, including eight in his only season with the Oakland Raiders (2007). He also was with the Washington Redskins (2003-05) before spending the past two seasons with the Eagles. Clemons has been working at right end with the No. 1 defense since the Seahawks’ first minicamp in April. Asked about his size, he offered, “You measure a man by his heart, not his body.”
Dexter Davis (6-1, 244). Davis, 23, was a seventh-round draft choice this year. He is no stranger to coach Pete Carroll, after collecting 31 sacks while starting a school-record 50 games at Arizona State – including 10½ in 2007 and 11 in 2008.
Ricky Foley (6-2, 252). Foley, 21, was signed in late February after leading the Canadian Football League with 12 sacks for the B.C. Lions last season. The Ontario-born Foley spent some time on the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad (2006) before being the fourth pick overall in the 2006 CFL draft by the Lions.
