Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Friday, June 27 - about your Seattle Seahawks:
Brandon Mebane NFL's Most-Underrated Player
Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com has his annual look at the most overrated and underrated players on each of the League's 32 teams. In the process, Prisco picks who he believes to be the NFL's overall most underrated player, and he lands on Seahawks defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, who enters his eighth season in Seattle having never been voted to a Pro Bowl.
Prisco writes: He doesn't pile up big numbers, but Mebane is a key to the Seattle defense. His ability to choke off the run allows the Seattle pass rush to be so effective. When it's third-and-long, you can do a lot of different things on defense.
Mebane is a 320-pounder who also occupies blockers inside to help free up the Seattle linebackers in the run game. One of the most overlooked things about the Seattle defense is the speed of the linebackers. Mebane's ability to occupy blockers is a big reason why a linebacker like
You look at Mebane's sack numbers from a year ago, and you'd think I am nuts for putting him on this list. He didn't get one. But that's not his game. He is a run stuffer, who makes it tough on first and second downs.
He had some really impressive games doing just that last season, including against Houston and a late game against the Rams in Seattle.

Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII MVP linebacker Malcolm Smith has rounded up a group of celebrity guests to join him in a softball game tomorrow - Saturday, June 28 - at Dream Team Park in Olympia, Wash. Accompanying Smith for tomorrow's game are rookie wide receiver

Training Camp Sold Out
Seahawks Training Camp presented by Bing is officially sold out, the team announced yesterday just 45 minutes after registration opened. For the complete open training camp schedule and to learn about camp policies and procedures, visit trainingcamp.seahawks.com.
Tweet of the Day
I'm cheating a bit with today's "Tweet of the Day" in that it doesn't necessarily have a Seahawks-tie, but it does have an Emerald City-tie.
Seattle-native, U.S. Men's National Team and Seattle Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin tweeted the above reaction after the United States survived the World Cup's "Group of Death" to advance to the knockout round of 16 nations. On Tuesday, July 1, the U.S. will meet a Belgium side who won all three of their group-stage matches.
