Fans invited to participate in food drive Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks, News Talk KIRO 97.3 FM, Seahawks Women's Association and Northwest Harvest are encouraging fans to bring nonperishable food or cash donations to the Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field this Sunday, November 13.

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, News Talk KIRO 97.3 FM, Seahawks Women's Association and Northwest Harvest are encouraging fans to bring nonperishable food or cash donations to the Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field this Sunday, November 13.

Volunteers will be available at all gates and at Touchdown City to accept contributions.

Northwest Harvest is the only non-profit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington with a network of more than 325 food banks, meal programs and high-need elementary schools. Northwest Harvest provides over 1.6 million meals every month to this network.

"The need for food statewide has increased 35% since the start of the recession," said Shelley Rotondo, executive director of Northwest Harvest. "We hope Seahawks fans will help us provide meals to those in need this Sunday."

Items that are most needed by Northwest Harvest:

General Food Items - canned fruits and vegetables, hot and cold cereals, tuna fish, canned meats, raisins and peanut butter

Whole Meals - chili, stews, hearty soups, pork & beans, and macaroni & cheese

Infant & Baby Foods - baby formula, canned milk, powdered milk, jars of baby food, infant cereal and diapers
