Posted Jan 22, 2014

Hard-of-hearing fans recently reached out to deaf fullback Derrick Coleman via Twitter, and on Tuesday, Coleman responded with a personal note of his own.

Fullback Derrick Coleman, the first legally deaf offensive player in the NFL, has garnered a lot of media attention in recent weeks with the national eye turned toward the Pacific Northwest in advance of Super Bowl XLVIII.

The uptick in attention has attracted new fans and followers from around the nation who find Coleman's story both endearing and inspirational.

On Tuesday, one of those fans reached out to Coleman via Twitter on behalf of his hard-of-hearing twin daughters, one of whom penned a letter to Coleman congratulating him on the Seahawks' NFC Championship win over the San Francisco 49ers.

The next day, Coleman responded with a hand-written note of his own.

Coleman's story is surely one that will gain more and more traction as the Seahawks approach Super Bowl XLVIII, and it's one we're all more than happy to hear time and time again.
