Here is an updated list of the Seahawks free agents during the 2014 window (as of publish time):
Clinton McDonald is about to turn the best season of his NFL career into the biggest payday of his NFL career.
The versatile free-agent defensive lineman, who had 5.5 sacks for the Seahawks during their run to a Super Bowl championship, agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday. The Bucs announced the move on their website, on the opening day of the NFL's free-agency period.
The loss of McDonald came a day after the Seahawks addressed their top priority in free agency by re-signing defensive lineman
McDonald joined the Seahawks in 2011, when he was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had 35 tackles that season and added 25 more in 2012. But it was in 2013 that McDonald had his best season, in a season that began with McDonald being released on the early roster cut to 53 players. McDonald was re-signed less than two weeks later and in addition to his career-high total in sacks he also posted 35 tackles, 13 QB hits, an interception, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery.
McDonald, 27, is the second loss on the line of the NFL's No. 1-ranked defense during the 2013 season, as veteran end Red Bryant was released Feb. 28 and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend.
