Grants up to $4,000 are available to schools for nutrition and activity programming.

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks are dedicated to helping youth lead more active and healthy lives by providing year-round opportunities, tools and encouragement to be active more than 60 minutes every day through the program PLAY 60. Now, students, parents and school administrators can sign-up to win prizes, Seahawks tickets, a visit from the Seahawks mascot Blitz and financial grants through the program, Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) in partnership with the Washington State Dairy Council.

The FUTP60 program is an in-school nutrition and physical education program that encourages students to consume nutrient-rich foods and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity everyday. To date, 1900 schools in Washington State and Alaska have signed up toparticipate.

One of the activities is an interactive online game featuring Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant, Sea Gal Tessa and head strength and conditioning Coach Chris Carlisle who asks health and fitness related questions to the participants with a football twist. Fans can play the game by visiting fuelandfitnesschallenge.com

"The partnership between the Seahawks and the Washington State Dairy Council has helped empower students to do amazing things in fighting childhood obesity," said Debra French, R.D., and Executive Director of the Washington State Dairy Council. "FUTP60 provides resources to schools to support environmental change, to increase the opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity."

Schools that enroll in the FUTP60 program are eligible to apply for financial grants up to $4,000 per year. As of today, 26 schools have already applied and received grants in a total of $64,500. In addition, more than $11,000 has been given to local schools for breakfast specific programs.
