Celebrating Seahawks Anthems on Seahawks Blue Friday

Posted Jan 4, 2013

In anticipation of Sunday's Wild Card playoff matchup with the Washington Redskins, we take a listen to several Seahawks anthems created by you - the 12th Man.

It’s no secret that the Pacific Northwest has brought up loads of musical talent.

From the psychedelic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, to the grunge rock era inspired by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden, to the hip-hop harmonies of Sir-Mix-a-Lot, to the rap movement spearheaded by Blue Scholars, Common Market, and Macklemore.

Not to mention the indie-rock melodies of Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Presidents of the United States of America, and the soulful pulsations of Allen Stone.

Music has truly helped shape this city – and its sports teams.

On the morning of January 4, Jason Finn of the Presidents of the United States, Nick Harmer and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab, Macklemore a.k.a. Ben Haggerty, Tendai 'Baba' Maraire of the hip-hop collective Shabazz Palaces, and Scott Mercado of Candlebox came together with Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn high atop the roof of the iconic Space Needle in downtown Seattle to raise the 12th Man flag on “Blue Friday” in support of the Seattle Seahawks.

That's a lot of talent 570 feet above the ground.

And as excitement builds toward Sunday’s Wild Card playoff matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins at FedExField in Landover, Md., the 12th Man has showcased some musical talent of their own.

Several songs in support of the team have popped up on social networks throughout the season, and we take a few moments here to highlight some of those Seahawks anthems.

You may have heard this first track before – a tune that NFL Hall of Famer and current NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders sang when going over his top performances from Week 6 - “Russell, Last Name, Wilson” by Tim Crispy:

GET YOUR HAWK ON” brought to us by My Boy Skitzo:

How ‘Bout Them Seahawks”, uploaded by YouTube user sjulian74, does it a little differently by incorporating sound bites from radio play-by-play man Steve Raible, our very own Tony Ventrella of Seahawks.com, cornerback Richard Sherman, and quarterback Russell Wilson.

DangeRuss” by daryl Strawberry diamonds:

Seattle’s Most Wanted” by Mr. Slim ft. Stacy Fernandez:

In “Russell Wilson (Who’s Your Quarterback?)” brought to us by www.SeahawksFTW.com, a fledging 12th Man – four-year-old Dana – remixes Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow”:

"Hawk Gang III" by Duranged Pitt ft. Tad

#Win "Seahawk Anthem" by Choklate ft. TNT (Robot Jox Remix)
