Big Walt pays early visit to Hall of Fame

Walter Jones won’t be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame until August, but that didn’t stop the Seahawks’ nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle from stopping by Tuesday.

It was a preparatory visit for Jones, who was elected to the Hall on Feb. 1 – the day before the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl at XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Jones and his fellow members of the Class of 2014 – Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Andre Reed, Michael Strahan and Aeneas Williams – will be enshrined Aug. 2.

Jones’ early visit included a personal tour of the facility in Canton, Ohio, which featured a behind-the-scenes look at the Hall’s archives. Included in his must-see items were shoulder pads wore by former teammate Cortez Kennedy, who was inducted into the Hall in 2012; and a jersey from Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

This was not Jones’ first visit to the Hall of Fame because he attended Kennedy’s induction ceremony.
