12th Fan View - vs. New York Jets

Posted Nov 15, 2012

Seahawks fan Chuck McGowan brings us a look at his '12th Fan View' video series, as he documents the Seahawks' home games from his seat in the upper level at CenturyLink Field.

This week’s game between the New York Jets and the Seattle Seahawks was held on Veteran’s Day, a day we pay tribute to those who have served their country in the armed forces.  Coming from a long line of military men, I appreciate the pre-game and halftime entertainment that is related to honoring the veterans.  My father was a 22-year first sergeant in the Army, both of my brothers and I served (they in the Army, me in the Navy), as well as many other family members and friends.

The NFL honors veterans across the country on this day.  Seattle is no exception, with WWII vet Joe Moser raising the 12th Man flag, a military flyover before kickoff, and a massive halftime re-enlistment ceremony along with the distribution of other awards headlining the veteran-related activities surrounding the game.

I appreciate the efforts of everyone at the Seahawks and with the NFL who makes these memories for those who have served for our freedom, and I heartily salute all veterans.

The game played out a little slower developing - from an offensive standpoint - than what I was expecting.  Russell Wilson had a key turnover early, but the defense held serve and shut out the Jets all afternoon, giving Wilson plenty of time to lead the offense on several scoring drives.  With some razzle-dazzle from Golden Tate, the Seahawks improved to 6-4 heading into the bye week.

The team looks fantastic at home.  It is very nice expecting the team to win each time I go to the stadium.  It hasn’t been that way for a number of years.  They need to take it on the road after the well-deserved bye week and win in Miami.

This team is primed to take off.  I am terribly disappointed I have to wait a month before they play at home again!  Until then...

GO HAWKS!
