Wednesday Round-Up: Seahawks Cornerback Shaquill Griffin Among NFL.com's 'Unsung Heroes'

NFL.com selected one 'unsung hero' from each club for their under-the-radar play this past season, with rookie cornerback Shaquill Griffin being the choice for the Seahawks.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Wednesday, January 24 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

The NFL's Unsung Heroes

The staff over at NFL.com has identified some of the league's 'unsung heroes' from this past season, highlighting players they believed to be either "young breakout candidates who flashed or under-the-radar contributors who stepped up and evolved into starters," calling out one player from each of the League's 32 teams who deserves more recognition than they initially received this past year.

For the Seahawks, the selection was rookie cornerback Shaquill Griffin, who saw significant action in 15 games for Seattle in his first season out of Central Florida. Here's what NFL.com had to say:

The rookie corner took on more of a role than the team likely planned on to start the season. Griffin led all Seahawks corners in passing snaps played and started 11 games in his first NFL season. He proved up to the task, allowing a paltry 47 percent completion rate when he was the nearest defender and just 5.84 yards per target. Griffin trailed only Richard Sherman in both metrics among Seattle corners this year. The Seahawks are headed for a crucial offseason in which they may well have to make tough decisions about the once-fabled "Legion of Boom" secondary. The 'Hawks can at least rest assured knowing they uncovered a future starter in the third round of last year's NFL draft.

Social Post Of The Day

Today's 'Social Post of the Day' comes from the 2018 Pro Bowl, where we had Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin mic'd up this morning for the NFC's first practice of the week. In the @Seahawks tweet below, Baldwin chats with Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes about the beauty of the Seattle area.
