Rich Eisen Runs 40-Yard Dash at NFL Combine To Benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
It wasn’t his best performance by any means, and it didn’t quite stack up with the blazing standard set by former Washington Huskies standout John Ross, but Rich Eisen's 40-yard dash at the 2017 NFL Combine still helped raise funds for St. Jude, a research hospital that treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The NFL Media personality’s ‘Run Rich Run’ attempt was clocked at 6.02 seconds on Monday, March 6, which also marked the final day of workouts for NFL hopefuls at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.
It’s the 13th straight offseason Eisen has run the 40 wearing a suit and tie for a campaign that encourages NFL fans to post 40-yard dash videos of their own. For every use of the #RunRichRun and #StJude hashtags on social media this year, NFL Network pledged to donate $1 to the hospital’s research efforts.
While Eisen came away a bit discouraged by the time from his most recent sprint, he still received a “good job” from 4-year-old St. Jude patient Grayson Walworth, who got to witness Eisen’s run first hand.
“What you’re doing, it’s all about those kind of people,” NFL Network’s Mike Mayock said of Eisen’s on-field interaction with Grayson. “Their appreciation for your efforts, the money that’s been raised, the fact that that young man right there has a chance, that family has a chance, is what ‘Run Rich Run’ is all about."
