SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Cameron May-Penelerick of Cle Elum Roslyn High School as the Week 10 CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Cameron will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the December 4 game vs. the Carolina Panthers.
Cameron, a senior at Cle Elum Roslyn High School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. He maintains a 3.87 GPA while taking Advanced Placement classes. Cameron is Treasurer of the Honor Society, Vice President of Interact Club, and a member of Academic Club. He helped raise $10,000 for Interact Club's trip to Ecuador where they built a well for a community that needed fresh water and he is currently raising money for a similar project in the Dominican Republic this spring. Cameron helped bring the traveling Vietnam Wall to Cle Elum and was part of creating Cle Elum's Flag Pole Park. He has also been a major contributor for Shop with a Cop in Ellensburg where he raised money to purchase dinner for all participants. Cameron is a captain of his football team and a First Team All-League linebacker.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 equipment grant to their school from the Seahawks for their school's Athletic Department along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2016 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
