Thirty-six seasons and 700 games later, Seattle Seahawks reporter Clare Farnsworth is calling it a career. Yesterday, the Pacific Northwest sports-media fixture [announced that his retirement date will come Friday, March 27](/news/articles/article-1/Clare-Farnsworth-Thanks-for-the-memories/2b4b3ffa-ad22-46e1-8bd7-ca7cf3c9df60 "/news/articles/article-1/Clare-Farnsworth-Thanks-for-the-memories/2b4b3ffa-ad22-46e1-8bd7-ca7cf3c9df60

Farnsworth got his start in 1979, covering the club for the Fournier Newspapers for three years (1979-81) before spending the next five at the Bellevue Journal-American (1982-86), next 22 at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (1987-2008), and past six (2009-14) as part of the digital media team right here at Seahawks.com.

"Atop my retirement bucket list is being a better husband to Renee; a better father to Jessica, Erica and Nathan; and a better Papa Clare to Satya, our granddaughter," he wrote. "They're the ones who have endured me being gone for so many birthdays and holidays while I was off chasing this team – and my dream.

"So it is with some trepidation – and yes, a few tears – that I say thanks for the memories as I enter the final week of what has been a 36-season joy ride."

Following Farnsworth's news, his name [trended on Twitter](https://twitter.com/TrendsSeattle/status/580179137777643521 "https://twitter.com/TrendsSeattle/status/580179137777643521
