1984 – The Seahawks win their season opener for the first time, 33-0 over the Browns at the Kingdome. But Curt Warner is lost of the season in the first half with a knee injury. The game is played on Monday afternoon because of a scheduling conflict with the Mariners, but still attracts a crowd of 59,540. Dave Krieg passes for three touchdowns, while safeties Kenny Easley and John Harris intercept Paul McDonald passes and Jacob Green (three) and Joe Nash (two) combine for five sacks to pace the shutout. Even without Warner, the Seahawks go 12-4 – the best record in franchise history until the 2005 and 2013 teams post 13-3 records – and advance to the playoffs as a wild-card team.
1995 – Jacob Green, the franchise’s all-time sack leader, is inducted into the Seahawks’ Ring of Honor. But the team loses its first game under coach Dennis Erickson, 34-10 to the Chiefs at the Kingdome.
2000 – The Seahawks drop their opener to the Dolphins in Miami 23-0, the first time they’ve been shutout in seven seasons.
