Seahawks part ways with eight players
The Seahawks waived six players and terminated the contracts of two others on Monday morning as NFL teams must reduce their 90-man rosters to 75 players by Tuesday.
Offensive lineman Wade Smith and cornerback Terrell Thomas had their contracts terminated. Smith was signed Aug. 4, while Thomas had been added July 29.
Jeffcoat, who also had been playing linebacker, was among the rookie free agents who were signed after the NFL Draft in May. Bronson and Smith were added in June. Brandon was claimed off waivers Aug. 2. Wolfe was signed Aug. 5, released the next day and re-signed Aug. 10. Dobson was signed Aug. 6.
Thomas had five tackles during the Seahawks’ first three preseason games, including a sack, while Jeffcoat was credited with four tackles. Dobson and Wolfe each had one tackle. Bronson carried 11 times for 45 yards.
The team must make seven more roster moves by 1 p.m. on Tuesday to reach the league-mandated limit of 75 players. The roster must then be cut to 53 players on Saturday. The Seahawks close out their preseason schedule Thursday night with a game against the Raiders in Oakland.
