On this date: Hall of Fame defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy is born

1968: Cortez Kennedy is born in Osceloa, Ark. He would grow into the most-decorated defensive player in Seahawks history, being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1992, voted to the Pro Bowl eight times and earning All-Pro honors four times. Kennedy was inducted into the Ring of Honor in 2006 and voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012, when his No. 96 also was retired.
1975: Season-ticket sales for the Seahawks’ inaugural season in 1976 close – after less than a month – because the target of 59,000 is reached.
