NFL Ups Practice Squad To 10 Players
The NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed to expand club practice squads from eight to 10 players for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, it Ctrl+Click to follow link" href="http://www.seahawks.com/%3Ca%20href%3D"http://nflcommunications.com/2014/08/19/nfl-practice-squads-expand-to-10-players/">http://nflcommunications.com/2014/08/19/nfl-practice-squads-expand-to-10..." target="_blank">was announced Tuesday.
Absent a further agreement between the two sides, the eight-man squad will return in 2016, meaning we'll essentially receive a two-year trial of the new rule. In that time, it should provide greater roster flexibility for each of the League's 32 clubs, giving team's more time to develop young talent they would otherwise be forced to part ways with.
We'll see how it works out when team's are mandated to trim their rosters down to 53 players on Saturday, Aug. 30 and then allowed to establish their now-10-man practice squads on Sunday, Aug. 31. Read

Steven Hauschka Not A Fan Of Longer PAT
Kicker Steven Hauschka, or "Hausch-Money" as he's referred to by his Seahawks teammates for his ultra-consistent approach, isn't a fan of the NFL's preseason experiment that placed points after touchdowns at the 33-yard-line.
"I think it's a bad idea," Hauschka said after Tuesday's practice. "Obviously the percentage is going to go down, which is what the NFL wants to make it more of an exciting play. But I think enough games are already decided on field goals."

Back on Aug. 5, Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor let us know how he and his "Legion of Boom" teammates are responding to the League's added emphasis on illegal contact.
"One thing we do here is emphasize the rules that the league is dishing out," Chancellor said. "It started with the helmet-to-helmet contact; the coaches took us to the side and explained to us what it was and how not to do it as well as the proper way to do it. They’re doing the same thing with illegal contact, showing the corners the proper way to do it – or whoever is going to be in man coverage the proper way to do it. I think guys are adjusting to it and practice is going well." Read
