Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is No. 1 rated player in 'Madden 15'
Seattle Seahawks players will have the chance to share the causes that are important to them during all Week 13 games, as part of the NFL's My Cause, My Cleats campaign. Defensive end Cliff Avril, wide receiver Doug Baldwin, tight end Jimmy Graham, cornerback Richard Sherman, and quarterback Russell Wilson all chose to participate, personalizing their footwear to help tell their stories. We know Richard Sherman will grace the game's cover and we know his Legion of Boom teammates will join him on the start-up screen, but now we learn the Seahawks All-Pro cornerback is the highest-rated player in Madden 15.
That's the news from NFL.com, who notes Sherman is one of three players with a 99 overall rating. Joining Sherman with the highest-rating in the game are Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
Around the same time, EA Sports released their ratings of the Top 5 cornerbacks in this year’s game. Sure enough, it was Sherman who sat atop their ranks.
EA Sports ratings guru Donny Moore writes: “The Madden NFL 15 cover athlete is the top-ranked CB in each of the following categories: Strength (72), Catching (82), and Man Coverage (98). He's also ranked second in Zone Coverage (96), AWR (94), AGI (96), Play Rec (95), and Jumping (98). Now do you see why he is rated 99 overall?”
Cornerbacks in line behind Sherman, whose 20 interceptions and 60 passes defensed the past three seasons are tops in the NFL, are the New England Patriots' Darrelle Revis (97 overall), Cleveland Browns' Joe Haden (95), Arizona Cardinals' Patrick Peterson (93), and Indianapolis Colts' Vontae Davis (92).
