ESPN To Air Seahawks Training Camp Special
On Tuesday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. PT, ESPN's SportsCenter will provide a live inside look at Seahawks training camp, where NFL analysts Jon Gruden, Charles Woodson, and John Clayton will join host Kenny Mayne to provide insight and commentary during a two-hour special as the team practices along the shores of Lake Washington.
“As popular as NFL games are, we thought it would be really interesting to offer a raw and real look at what a NFL team practice is like, since this is something so few fans get to experience,” said ESPN’s Monday Night Football producer Jay Rothman, who will produce the special. “ESPN is excited to try this for the first time and we’re thrilled the Seahawks are providing this unique access to us as they prepare to defend their Super Bowl title.” Read
Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner Among NFL's Most-Underrated
NFL.com's analysts discuss which players are the most underrated around the League, and Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor and linebacker Bobby Wagner earn mentions.
On Chancellor, Adam Schein writes: "The single most underrated player in the NFL is Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. Playing among the defending Super Bowl champions' galaxy of defensive luminaries, Chancellor sadly is often overlooked; heck, he's the second-best safety (behind Earl Thomas) and third-best defensive back (behind Thomas and Richard Sherman) on his own team!
But don't let that distract you. Chancellor capped off another sensational regular season in 2013 with a difference-making effort in the title game (nine tackles, two passes defensed and a pick that led to Seattle's first touchdown), setting the tone for the Seahawks' dismantling of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Chancellor -- for whom I voted, along with Thomas, to be first-team All-Pro at safety -- needs to be recognized for what he is: a star in his own right."
Wagner doesn't have the same level of name recognition as fellow 2012 draftee Luke Kuechly, but he hassignificantly outstripped expectations people had for him as a second-round pick. When Seattle needs someone to make something happen, Wagner is the guy who does it." Read
Running back Marshawn Lynch's Oakland influence runs deep, and we were on site at Lynch's eighth annual Fam 1st Family Football Camp last week to see how widespread Lynch's love for his hometown really is.
On his annual affair for Bay Area youth held at Oakland Technical High School, Lynch said: "It could teach them loyalty. It could teach them strength. It could teach them to overcome their fears, overcome their weaknesses, to build on their strengths and not make them just good, but make them great.
"It's infinite to the things that sports can teach them." Read
