It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but the world's loudest fans have been heard once again.
When Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman was voted as the next cover man for Madden NFL 15 - the popular video game franchise from EA Sports - Sherman challenged fans to find a way to get his "Legion of Boom" teammates who were so integral to his success to join him front and center.
12s quickly rallied around Sherman's cause. One fan in particular - Midwest Sea Hawker Jason Coiner - started a Change.org petition to EA Sports to get the entire LOB on the cover. Madden took notice of Coiner's 9,400-plus supporters and of other petitions like it, today announcing it will feature the Seahawks secondary on the game's start screen - a place traditionally reserved for the game's cover man.
"This year, we’re going to feature the entire Legion of Boom on the welcome screen," EA Sports said. "One of the major areas of focus for Madden NFL 15 is defense, and what better way to introduce you to the game than with the guys who are changing the face of defense in the NFL."
With limited time between cover athlete announcement, cover art production, and the game's release date, EA Sports explains changing the entire cover design would prove difficult. Still, Coiner is satisfied with what was offered as an alternative, knowing his voice and those of countless other 12s was truly heard.
"I told my children numerous times that one person can make a difference and this is my proof to them," Coiner said shortly after hearing the news. "Our Seahawks play hard for us and this was an opportunity to show them how much we appreciate all that they do.
"This was my Super Bowl victory and I couldn't do it without my 12s."
'Madden' - and its updated LOB start screen - hit stores on Tuesday, Aug. 26.Read
