Steve Hauschka and the Washington Dairy Council participated in the Fuel Up To Play 60 school assembly. The Washington State Dairy Council awarded McKnight Middle School in Renton with a $10,000 check as a part of their Seahawks Hometown Grant to continue their healthy eating and exercise habits as a school. 2008: Gary Wright, who had been with the franchise since its inaugural season in 1976, retires. Originally the director of publicity, Wright was promoted to public relations director in 1982 and became the franchise’s first vice president in 1987. To mark his retirement, the press box at the team’s stadium was named in his honor. Wright is now in his second season as senior vice president for Sounders FC after serving as the MLS team’s senior VP of business operations for four seasons.
