On this date: Gary Wright retires
World-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson visited Seahawks practice this week and talked with the players and coaches about the physics of football, along with how the rotation of the Earth might even impact the game. Watch
2008: Gary Wright, who had been with the franchise since its inaugural season in 1976, retires. Originally the director of publicity, Wright was promoted to public relations director in 1982 and became the franchise’s first vice president in 1987. To mark his retirement, the press box at the team’s stadium was named in his honor. Wright is now in his second season as senior vice president for Sounders FC after serving as the MLS team’s senior VP of business operations for four seasons.
