John Schneider Speaks
Seahawks general manager John Schneider held an off-camera interview with several members of the Seattle media yesterday afternoon. I wrapped up the newsworthy bullet points to come out of Schneider's session, the biggest one being he expects wide receiver Sidney Rice - who is coming off an injury to his ACL - to be ready by the beginning of the season.
Dave Boling of the Tacoma News Tribune comments on the level of importance Schneider and the Seahawks put on detecting a prospect's inner drive.
Based on Schneider's comments, Art Thiel of SportsPressNW.com relays that recently-acquired quarterback Terrelle Pryor will in fact play quarterback, even with Russell Wilson, Tarvaris Jackson, and B.J. Daniels rounding out the position.
Terry Blount of ESPN.com has more on Schneider's pre-draft media session, noting the Seahawks are after players who display a certain competitive quality.
And for those of you with a bit of extra time on your hands this morning, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR AM has the full transcript from yesterday's chat with Schneider. Read
Robert Turbin Fueled By Family Tragedies
Todd Dybas of the Tacoma News Tribune goes into detail about the life of running back Robert Turbin, whose mother - Lovie Mae Jones - was not around when Robert was growing up, and whose brother - Lonnie - was shot and killed at age 35.
Dybas writes, "Turbin doesn’t wonder much about why such issues have latched on to his family members and not him. At times, he’s curious why he was just able to have a life that put him on the field in the Super Bowl instead of it shifting to a more challenged existence. He’s been able to manufacture his mournful surroundings into his drive.
'Try to find a way it may be able to benefit you or inspire you,' Turbin said of the sorrow. 'You can use that in your motivation more than you can use it to hold you back.' Read
