Seahawks sign long snapper Jorgen Hus
No position is safe from competition in a Pete Carroll-run program.
The Seahawks today announced they have signed 24-year-old long snapper Jorgen Hus, a 6-foot-1, 232-pound product out of Canada's University of Regina. Hus spent time with the NFC West rival St. Louis Rams during the 2013 preseason after signing with the club as an undrafted rookie free agent, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.
In a recent story from the Regina, Saskatchewan Leader-Post, Hus discusses his friendship with Seahawks punter Jon Ryan - a fellow Regina Ram. Hus volunteered at one of Ryan's snapping and punting clinics a few years ago and the two train together each summer at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate in Regina.
"Jon is one of those rare people you can’t say enough good things about,” Hus told the Leader-Post. “He’s always been rooting for me, always saying good things to the right people for me.”
Outside of Ryan, Hus' name may ring a bell to some. The former collegiate linebacker posted a YouTube video on this date two years ago featuring several long-snapping trick shots. Hus can be seen snapping a football through the open window of a moving vehicle and connecting with the field goal crossbar on a snap from the football field's 20-yard-line.
Hus now takes his trick shots to Seattle, where he'll look to compete for playing time against fellow long snapper Clint Gresham, who has handled deep-snapping duties for the Seahawks the past four seasons. Read
