2012: Defensive end Red Bryant is signed to a multiyear contract before he can reach free agency. Bryant was expected to draw considerable interest if he hit the open market, and the Seahawks could not afford to lose a player who had developed into a disruptive run-stuffer on defense, a kick-blocking force on special teams and a team leader. But Bryant was released this year on Feb. 28.
