2008: The club uses its franchise tag on cornerback Marcus Trufant, who then signs a six-year contract in March. Trufant, the team’s first-round draft choice in 2003, is coming off a Pro Bowl season in which he led the team with a career-high seven interceptions and finished second with 85 tackles.
