Social Scene: Seahawks react to #Celebrate48 Super Bowl parade
Wednesday's Super Bowl XLVIII victory parade attracted a sea of 12th Man fans into the streets of downtown Seattle to welcome home their Seahawks team who had claimed the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy with a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos this past Sunday.
More than 700,000 fans swarmed toward a 2.4 mile procession featuring Seahawks players, coaches, staff, the Sea Gals, Blue Thunder, and team mascot Blitz. The parade culminated with a presentation at CenturyLink Field, where another 50,000 season-ticket holders eagerly awaited. Add another 27,000 watching Wednesday's events on the video board at the neighboring Safeco Field and more than 144,000 following our live stream on Seahawks.com, and you have one of the largest - and most memorable - celebrations in our region's history.
"I’ve never seen it like this and it’s not because of any of the hype and the buildup about it," coach Pete Carroll said in a brief press conference held after his team's on-field celebration at CenturyLink Field. "It’s about the people. The people in this area and the support that they have and the love in their heart to cheer for this football team is very, very special and is very unique and it’s been demonstrated throughout the seasons over many years.
"But in this opportunity to be a world championship club, to share that back with them, it just brings out even more. Just the true connection and the energy and the love that they have, it’s just really hard to describe it other than it’s very real and it’s really cool to have."
Carroll wasn't the only one who was impressed. Several Seahawks players and staff took to social media to share their connection with the 12th Man during yesterday's events. We've laid out several highlights for you below.
