Social Scene: Seattle to Newark
Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and tight end Luke Willson competed in a game of the newly-released 'Madden 17' on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Microsoft Store in Bellevue Square. The winner took home $5,000 to a charity of their choice and the event helped promote the new Surface Pro 4 NFL Special Edition Type Cover. View
Roughly 30,000 12th Men, Women, and Children planted themselves from VMAC to SeaTac on Sunday morning, sending the Seahawks off in style to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York/New Jersey.
Fans congregated at Seahawks headquarters, lined Renton's 12 Seahawks way, and canvassed overpasses along I-405 leading up to SeaTac's Seahawks celebration along South 188th Street.
"It was really fun to see," coach Pete Carroll said of the "collegiate" like atmosphere during his introductory press conference at the team hotel in Jersey City, New Jersey. "Our following was well represented today."
Their convoy was slowed to a crawl as Seahawks fans tore through the yellow tape set up by local law enforcement, pounding their fists on the side of all four team buses that rolled through.
"That was nuts, man," Pro Bowl center Max Unger said after arriving at the team hotel. "It was one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of. Twenty-five to 35-thousand fans lining the streets, leading us up here. It was pretty special."
