The Seahawks and the Panthers have faced off 11 times, including three postseason matchups. The Seahawks currently own seven wins in the series and will play the Panthers again this Sunday at CenturyLink Field during Week 13 on Sunday Night Football. View
Head coach Pete Carroll addressed the media this afternoon ahead of the team's 1:45 p.m. "Competition Wednesday" practice and preparation for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field.
After missing the past four games with a foot injury, Carroll said linebacker K.J. Wright will participate in Wednesday's practice.
Wright last saw action against the 49ers in Week 14 at Candlestick Park. He left the game with what was determined to be a fractured bone in his foot and had surgery to repair the injury the following week. In Wright's absence, third-year linebacker Malcolm Smith has stepped into the starting lineup.
Carroll said wide receiver Percy Harvin will see doctors this afternoon in his recovery from the concussion he suffered against the New Orleans Saints last week. Carroll said Harvin would not participate in Wednesday's practice and said he could not provide an update on his status until after Harvin meets with physicians. Carroll is scheduled to meet with the media again on Thursday and Friday afternoon, so stay tuned.
Below are a few more bits of news and notes from Carroll's Wednesday presser: Read
- "We don't change anything." Carroll, on the biggest message he relays to his team during NFC Championship week. "That's the whole point of the way we prepare. We're trying to play the best we can possibly play every time we go out. ... We should be at the best we've been."
- "Come on, let's do it again." Carroll’s message to the 12th Man as they prepare for this weekend's conference title game. "Our following has been extraordinary. We're very blessed to have so much love and care for this team. ... All I'd ever ask is, 'Let's go have some fun.'"
Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth and Digital Media Host Tony Ventrella will be back with more following today's practice, when offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will be available to the media. Read
