Focus on: #12Day
The 12th day of the 12th month is special to all Seahawks fans. But Thursday took the uniqueness of the symbolic date to another level for Ryan and Trent Nobach.
Ryan Nobach was selected from a group of longtime season-ticket holders to raise the 12th Man Flag at Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Having Trent, his 10-year-old son, accompany him made it all the more special, because Ryan Nobach used to attend Seahawks game at the Kingdome when he was that age with his late father, Ron.
“This is great,” Ryan Nobach said. “I wish my dad was here to see it, but this is a great opportunity for Trent. He’s been going to Seahawks games since he was 5-weeks old. He’s a very lucky kid, and we’re a very lucky family to keep going and continue the tradition.”
Going to Seahawks games is one thing, being selected to represent the team’s 12th Man fans on their special day came with ample amounts of surreal. Nobach was contacted by Will Brantley, one of the customer sales representatives.
“Will actually texted me because I had a missed call and he’s like, ‘Answer your phone,’ ” Nobach said. “I called him back and said, ‘What’s going on?’ Then he told me.”
And did Nobach believe him? “At first I was like, ‘Yeah, right.’ But that’s how I found out,” he said. “And ever since I’ve been on Cloud 9.”
Maybe Cloud 12 would be more apropos, and there was room for Trent, who got out of school to make the trip to VMAC from Arlington with his dad.
“It’s very cool,” Ryan Nobach said. “A dream come true. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so we’re really excited to be here.” Read
