A happy beyond-expectations birthday to Russell Wilson
To celebrate this now annual occasion, we merge the galaxies of Star Wars with our newest stars, the 2016 #SeahawksDraft class. And as you'll discover, the parallels between our two universes go far far beyond simple name-play. Happy Star Wars Day and #MayThe4thBeWithYou always! View
Friday is Russell Wilson’s birthday. On the surface, it’s not that noteworthy. We all have birthdays.
But we don’t all play quarterback for the team with the best record in the NFL, and we haven’t all achieved what Wilson already has at the ripe old age of 25 while playing quarterback for the Seahawks.
But there are so many others: Wilson’s 13-0 record at CenturyLink Field; his 111.2 passer rating since Week 9 last season, which is tops in the league during that 19-game span; those 21 victories, which trail only the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger for the most in the first two seasons of a career; his nine game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime, second to Luck for a QB in his first two seasons since 1970; and on, and on.
While Wilson might not have everything, he already has done so many things. So what do you get a guy like that for his birthday? We asked second-year running back Robert Turbin, who is Wilson’s roommate for road games.
“I’d get him a book, because I know he likes to read,” Turbin said. “I don’t know if he’s read the book Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) from Duke wrote, but probably a book like that or something similar. Because it’s something he can read, and it focuses on things he’s in to.”
Hopefully Wilson will have time to read it while writing the latest chapter in his own truth-is-stranger-than-fiction story.
