Wednesday Round-Up: Seahawks fans to attempt Guinness World Record for crowd noise, again
Good morning, 12th Man.
Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Wednesday, November 27 - about your Seattle Seahawks:
The Seahawks fan group "Volume 12" - led by former Seahawks defensive lineman Joe Tafoya - recently announced they will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for crowd noise, again. The attempt will come during the Seahawks Monday night game against the New Orleans Saints at CenturyLink Field, when Guinness officials will once again be on hand. The 12th Man set a Guinness World Record reading of 136.6 decibels back in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, but it was short-lived, as Kansas City Chiefs fans bested the line with a 137.5 decibel reading near the end of an October game against the Oakland Raiders.
In Thurmond's place, the club reached out and signed cornerback Perrish Cox to add some depth at the position. Cox, the 6-foot, 190-pound third-year player out of Oklahoma State, most recently played with the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL.com Around the League writer Gregg Rosenthal previews the NFC playoff picture, looking at the likely candidates to emerge from the field. The Seahawks can clinch a playoff spot in Week 13 with a win over the New Orleans Saints, coupled with a loss by either the San Francisco 49ers or Arizona Cardinals.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times recaps head coach Pete Carroll's reaction to the suspension of cornerback Walter Thurmond.
John Boyle of the Everett Herald says the Seahawks will march on despite the recent distractions.
Terry Blount of ESPN.com says head coach Pete Carroll will always be willing to give a player a second chance. Blount also notes Monday's Seahawks-Saints isn't the only top matchup in the NFL this week, as the AFC leading Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs square off on Sunday.
Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR AM says head coach Pete Carroll is "disappointed" in Thurmond's suspension, but confident the players behind him are ready to step up.
And here at Seahawks.com, Digital Media Reporter Clare Farnsworth profiles cornerback Byron Maxwell, who is likely the next man up after the suspension to Walter Thurmond. Farnsworth also recaps Tuesday's "Bonus Day" practice and has his first look at the Seahawks Week 13 opponent - the New Orleans Saints.
