Seahawks fans came out in droves on Saturday in San Diego.
It was family day here at the VMAC as the Seahawks had their last practice of the week before heading to San Diego tomorrow for a preaseon matchup against the Chargers on Saturday.
Early Monday, head coach Pete Carroll joined the team's flagship radio station 710 ESPN Seattle for his weekly conversation with Brock Huard and Danny O'Neil.
"It was great being on bye, but that doesn't matter," Carroll said. "It's how we respond to it."
The Seahawks are back at Virginia Mason Athletic Center after receiving six days off for the team's bye week. Carroll said in addition to enjoying some time away, Seahawks coaches used the week as a time to self-scout, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of their own club.
The players are scheduled to participate in workouts and meetings today with a "bonus" practice lined up for Tuesday afternoon. Practice and preparation for Monday night's home game against the New Orleans Saints will begin on Wednesday.
"We really have a lot of room to improve and that's really an exciting thing," said Carroll.
Below are a couple more nuggets from Carroll's Monday conversation with "Brock and Danny"
- Wide receiver Percy Harvin (hip), left tackle Russell Okung (toe), and right tackle Breno Giacomini (knee) are slated for a full week of practice. Carroll said the club has no plans to hold the trio back at this point. "The issue for our opponents is he's there now, so what are you going to do about it?" - Carroll, on Harvin's integration into the offense.
- "That we're winners." Carroll, on what he feels best about at this point in the Seahawks 10-1 season.
- Rookie cornerback Tharold Simon (foot), who started the season on the team's physically unable to perform (PUP) list, will return to practice this week.
- "I would imagine they're ready now. They should be healthy, ready to go, and able crank it up for a big Monday night." - Carroll, on the 12th Man's status coming out of the bye week ahead of the team's Week 13 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
