On this date: Seahawks blank Jaguars 41-0
2009: The Seahawks post their second shutout in five games with a 41-0 victory over the Jaguars at CenturyLink Field as the defense limits Jacksonville to 199 yards and Matt Hasselbeck passes for four touchdowns. It is the first time since 1986, and only the second time in franchise history, that the Seahawks have two shutout victories in the same season. The club record is three shutouts in 1984.
1981: Earl Campbell runs for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Ken Stabler passes for three touchdowns as the Oilers slap the Seahawks with a 35-17 loss at the Astrodome, extending Seattle’s losing streak to four games.
1987: The Cincinnati Bengals score 17 points in the second quarter and hang on for a 17-10 victory in a game at the Kingdome between placement players. The players’ strike forces NFL teams to play three games without their regulars and this is the Seahawks’ only loss in that stretch.
1992: The Seahawks are shutout 27-0 by the Cowboys in Dallas, their third loss in what would become an eight-game losing streak during a 2-14 season. The offense generates only 62 yards, but defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy gets one of his 14 sacks in a season when he’s named NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
1998: Terrell Davis rushes for 208 yards as the Broncos outlast the Seahawks 21-16 at Mile High Stadium in pushing Seattle’s losing streak to three games in a row. The Seahawks get their touchdowns on a 50-yard pass from John Friesz to Mike Pritchard and a 23-yard interception return by linebacker Darrin Smith, while linebacker Chad Brown has 14 tackles.
