Tuesday Round-Up: Richard Sherman ranks at No. 12 in PFT's Top 100
Good morning, and here's what's "out there" for today, Tuesday, July 23, about your Seattle Seahawks:
Cornerback Richard Sherman, who was highlighted at No. 50 on NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2013, jumped 38 spots to No. 12 on ProFootballTalk.com's list, which unveiled their Top 25 players Monday afternoon. Even at No. 12, Sherman is just the second-highest ranked cornerback on PFT's list, as Tampa Bay Buccaneers corner Darrelle Revis comes in two spots ahead of Sherman at No. 10.
Sherman was also unveiled as a contributing writer for SI.com's Peter King's new endeavor - The MMQB - a website launched yesterday devoted completely to the NFL. Sherman's initial feature rehashes his path to the pros and delves into what drives him to be great every day.
PFT also has the Seahawks checking in at No. 4 in their preseason power rankings.
Mike Tanier of SportsOnEarth.com has ranked the League's 32 training camps in order of excitement, and the Seahawks come in at No. 11. Tanier considers several categories and assigns point values to each to determine his rankings, including whether or not a club uses the read-option, has a class of 2012 quarterback, has impact rookies or free agent additions, and more.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times examines the question, "Will the pass rush get better?" in the site's "15 questions in 15 days" series leading up to training camp.
Eric Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune has an in-depth feature on what to expect from the team's tight end position.
Danny O'Neil of 710Sports.com offers a preview of the team's offensive line heading into training camp.
ESPN.com NFC West blogger Mike Sando has a look at running back situations around the division.
Tim Gayle of USA Today catches up with backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson on his decision to return to Seattle.
NFL.com Around the League editor Gregg Rosenthal breaks down the Top 25 NFC position battles heading into camp, and for the Seahawks Rosenthal highlights the competition at backup running back between second-year pro Robert Turbin and rookie Christine Michael.
Last night, wide receiver Golden Tate joined the list of Seahawks that have thrown out the ceremonial first pitch for the Seattle Mariners. Perhaps the M's became interested in Tate after his MVP performance at Richard Sherman's Celebrity Softball Game earlier this month.
Here at Seahawks.com, Tate teamed up with former Seahawks defensive lineman Jacob Green for Green's 26th annual charity golf classic benefiting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
And in case you missed it from us yesterday, 2013 regular season tickets and all training camp practices are sold out. A limited number of tickets remain for preseason games.
